Cipo Cravo
(Tynanthus elegans)
1 liter of herbal extract
This rainforest plant is a large, woody vine that can reach up to 80 meters in length. The plant, which originates from the same family as the ayahuasca vine, produces small, white flowers, from which flat, bean-like fruits emerge. The bark and roots exude a distinctive, carnation-like fragrance.
Commercially, both T. panurensis and Mandevilla genus are sold under the name Clavo huasca.
Drugs and ingredients
In the plant found a new eugenol derivative, a phenylpropanoid glycoside.
Verbascosides, isoverbascosides, leucosceptosides and the flavonoid apigenin are also present.
Preliminary phytochemical analysis by Brazilian scientists suggests the presence of another alkaloid, which they called Tinantina.
So far, no clinical studies have been set up to elucidate the mode of action of Clavohuasca or its abundant eugenol derivative.
use
Clavohuasca is mainly used as an aphrodisiac, a remedy for pain and fever, for the promotion of digestion and general stimulant.
In South America, it is said to be one of the most important remedies for impotence and to increase the appetite of women and men.
Sometimes Clavohuasca is also taken with ayahuasca to relieve the nausea attacks.
Due to the aroma, the plant can also be used in aromatherapy.
